WordPress Accessibility Plugins

About this collection

A growing collection of WordPress accessibility plugins — one principle: WCAG AA by default.

These WordPress accessibility plugins are built by an accessibility consultant for site owners who refuse to ship inaccessible WordPress sites. Each is engineered to WCAG Level AA, tested with real assistive technology, and shipped with sane accessible defaults out of the box. Nothing is locked behind a paid tier and there are no overlay gimmicks — what you install is exactly what you can read and audit.

Accessible Carousel & Slider — a WordPress accessibility plugin for the block editor, WCAG AA

Live on WordPress.org · v2.4.3

Accessible Carousel & Slider

Free · GPLv2 · WordPress 6.5+ · PHP 7.4+

Two accessibility-first Gutenberg blocks — a hero carousel / slider and a card scroller — built to WCAG AA. Use it as an accessible carousel, slider, or slideshow with keyboard-operable controls, a visible pause/stop, no auto-advance by default, reduced-motion support, six designed patterns, and a readable fallback with JavaScript off. Both blocks come with sensible accessible defaults, so the quickest path to build is also the conformant one. It is a no-build, vanilla-JavaScript plugin, so it stays lightweight and the code you ship is the code that actually runs.

Accessible Forms — a WordPress accessibility plugin for accessible contact forms, WCAG AA

Live on WordPress.org · v1.0.7

Accessible Forms

Free · GPLv2 · WordPress 6.5+ · PHP 7.4+

An accessibility-first contact form for the block editor — build forms that are WCAG AA compliant without hand-wiring any ARIA. Every field has a real label with fieldset and legend grouping, validation errors appear both in a focus-managed summary and inline beside each field, and entries are stored safely in your own WordPress database. Spam is handled with a honeypot and timing check plus optional Cloudflare Turnstile — with no third-party scripts, tracking or phone-home. Drop a form in with the block or a shortcode, and the accessible defaults make the quickest build the conformant one.

Why our WordPress accessibility plugins are different.

Most accessibility plugins are built without a close reading of WCAG. Ours are built by an accessibility consultant who audits sites for WCAG conformance for a living — so conformance is designed in from the start, not guessed at near the end. That shows up in the details automated scanners miss and real audits catch: focus order, names and roles, colour contrast and motion handling.

WCAG AA by default

Accessible defaults out of the box, with customization options bounded so common pitfalls are avoided by design. You get accessible output without having to memorise the specification yourself.

Tested with real users

JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack. Keyboard-only. 400 % zoom. Forced-colors. Real assistive tech, not just automated scans — every release is exercised by hand.

Built by an expert

No dark patterns

No “accessibility overlay” gimmicks. No tracking. No phone-home. Just working accessible code you can audit yourself.

Custom work

Need an accessibility-focused plugin built for you?

If you have a specific WCAG conformance requirement that off-the-shelf plugins don’t solve, Ananyoo builds custom WordPress accessibility solutions for businesses, government and education sites. From a single accessible component to a full set of WordPress accessibility plugins tailored to your stack, the work is built and tested to the same WCAG AA standard. Every engagement includes a manual audit with assistive technology and a written remediation list, so you can see exactly what changed and why. Most engagements begin with a short scoping call and a fixed, written quote before any work starts.
