About Trinetra Technologies
Trinetra Technologies works in the drone, UAV and surveillance technology field. Its website presents product ranges, technical specifications, demonstration videos, image galleries and enquiry forms for buyers and partners. Government bodies, security teams and businesses study these pages before they buy, and some of these visitors have a disability. So the website must be simple to read and simple to operate for everyone — which is the aim of WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
The challenge
We started with a full audit of the live website. We tested each main template by hand and noted every barrier that a real user would meet. The key problems were these:
- Product galleries: the drone photos and gallery sliders had no alternative text and could not be operated by keyboard, so blind and keyboard users could not view them.
- Specification tables: the technical spec tables were not marked up with proper table headers, so screen readers could not link a value to its label.
- Demo videos: the demonstration videos had no captions and their play, pause and mute controls had no clear names.
- Enquiry forms: the “request a quote” and contact forms had missing labels and unclear error messages, so people using screen readers could not complete them with confidence.
- Low colour contrast: thin grey text over the dark, technical background did not meet the 4.5:1 ratio and was hard to read.
- Keyboard and focus: the menu, product filters and buttons were hard to reach by keyboard, and the selected item was not clearly shown.
What we did
We fixed each barrier during remediation and explained every change in plain words, so the Trinetra team can keep the website accessible in the future. The main fixes were:
- Rebuilt the product galleries and sliders to be fully keyboard-operable, with clear alternative text for every drone and product photo.
- Marked up the specification tables correctly with row and column headers, so each value is announced with its proper label.
- Added captions and clearly-named play, pause and mute controls to the demonstration videos.
- Gave every form field a visible label, sensible help text and a clear, spoken error message, so the enquiry and quote forms are easy for everyone.
- Adjusted the text and link colours so every combination now meets the WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratio, while keeping the strong, technical brand look.
- Made the menu, product filters and buttons fully keyboard-operable, added a “skip to content” link, and applied a strong, visible focus outline.
- Confirmed the whole site works well on mobile and stays clear at 400% browser zoom and in forced-colours mode.
Testing with real assistive technology
Automated tools alone miss most real barriers, so we test by hand with the tools that disabled users depend on every day: JAWS and NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on iOS and macOS, and TalkBack on Android. We also used keyboard-only operation, 400% browser zoom, forced-colours mode and the Colour Contrast Analyser. Automated checks with Deque axe, Google Lighthouse and the WAVE tool were run alongside the manual work as a second net.
The result
After remediation and a fresh round of testing, the Trinetra Technologies website meets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Keyboard and screen-reader users can now browse the product range, read the specifications, watch the demos with captions, and complete the enquiry forms without any trouble. The pages stay clear on phones and at high zoom, and the bold, technical brand design is fully kept. For a company that sells to government and security buyers, this accessible website is also a real advantage in tenders and procurement, where WCAG and Section 508 conformance is often required.
All testing and sign-off was led by a DHS Trusted Tester (Section 508) and supported by IAAP-certified colleagues, so the result stands on recognised, independent accessibility credentials.
